What is the process to register for the services offered by AMSI?
  • You can visit any of our AMSI locations or see more information in the following link.

What is WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)?

  • The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides the framework for required state and local changes to workforce development systems to increase job retention, earnings, and occupational skills for individuals with barriers to employment. In this way, workers can move on to better jobs and careers, as well as providing companies with the workforce needed to make the region more competitive in the global economy.
  • WIOA will help employers and workers access employment, education, training and support services so they can succeed in the labor market and provides employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in a global economy.

What is the Temporary Employment Services (TES) Program?
  • This service will allow registered participants to be referred to employment opportunities throughout the island.
  • Our team will refer you to SET Employer clients in need of talent recruitment.
  • We have a wide variety of job offers distributed throughout the island.
  • The registration service is completely free, register through our website and request services. You can visit any of our locations and bring your updated resume with you. If you do not have it, you can visit us in the Technology Resources Area of the Service Centers and one of our attentive collaborators will gladly assist you in the process. You can also visit our main office located on the sixth floor of the Consolidated Medical Plaza, in Caguas.
What is Direct Employment?
  • This is a free option in which the employer indicates his human resources needs and AMSI will provide him with candidates from which he can choose for the benefit of his company.
  • The employer informs AMSI of the vacancy and the skills required for the position.
  • The process consists of:
    • Pre-evaluation of candidates according to the skills needed to fill the position
    • Candidates are oriented on how to go to a job interview
What does the employer gain under Direct Employment?
  • Cost savings related to the recruitment process
  • A prospect ready to start working. This includes the mastery of soft skills (Attendance, Punctuality, Responsibility, etc.).
What is Ticket to Work?
  • The purpose of this program is to increase opportunities for social security disability beneficiaries, ages 18 to 64, to re-enter the workforce.
  • When you are part of the program, you can get help finding a job, vocational rehabilitation or other assistance. These services are provided by employment networks, which are private organizations or government agencies that have agreed to work with Social Security to provide employment services and other supports to beneficiaries with disabilities and state vocational rehabilitation agencies.
What is an employment network? (TTW)
  • AMSI is an Employment Network of the Federal Social Security Administration, which means that we are committed to working in partnership with Social Security to provide employment services to disabled beneficiaries.
  • Employment networks are organizations that can help you get and keep a job. They provide other employment support services at no cost to you. The Ticket to Work program gives you the opportunity to choose from a variety of employment networks. An employment network can be a single organization that provides all the services you need, or it can be a group of providers. The employment network you choose may also work with other organizations that are not part of the network to provide the services you need.
What services are offered under Ticket to Work (TTW)?
  • The assigned Collaborators provide a strategy aimed at facilitating and ensuring that the participant’s needs are effectively coordinated by developing an Individual Employment Plan.
  • We also offer Individualized Counseling, Case Management, Occupational Guidance, Resume Preparation, Job Referrals, among others.
What benefits does the Ticket to Work (TTW) participant receiv
  • Increases alternatives for obtaining vocational and rehabilitation services.
  • Ensures more opportunity for the beneficiary to participate in the labor force and reduces economic dependency.
  • Removes barriers that require people with disabilities to choose between medical coverage and work.
  • They bring more income to their family unit.
  • You will not undergo medical examinations while you are active in the Program.
  • It is a voluntary program.
What benefits does an employer who participates in the Ticket to Work (TTW) program receive?

By recruiting a Ticket to Work Program participant, the employer benefits from an employee who possesses soft skills such as punctuality, responsibility, and experience. In addition, you can claim a federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) for each beneficiary who works at least 120 hours in his or her first year or 40% if he or she worked at least 400 hours.

 

What is offered under the Liceo de Capacitación y Desarrollo Integral?
  • The Liceo de Capacitación y Desarrollo Integral (LICEO) offers different courses throughout the year so that people can develop professionally and personally for a moderate investment. During the year we offer different courses, among them:
    • Basic and Intermediate Conversational English. This course is designed to help the participant develop effective conversational and communication skills in English. It will help them to lose fear and improve communication. Offered in 30 and 60 contact hours.
    • Basic Computer and Social Networking. Course aimed at older adult participants. In this course you will learn the terminology and basic functions necessary to work on a personal computer. It is an introductory course to the computer world and explores the different social networks that are used on the Internet to communicate with family and friends. Offered in 18 and 24 hours contact.
    • MS Excel Basic and Intermediate. In this course the participant will work with electronic spreadsheets, apply formulas and learn to work with graphics. It may also integrate any particular needs into the course curriculum. Offered in 15 and 24 hours contact.
    • MS PowerPoint Basic. In this course the participant will develop the necessary skills to design professional presentations. Offered in 15 contact hours.
    • Basic Medical Plans Billing. In this course the participant will be introduced to the study of different medical plans and their billing methods. The methodology for identifying the types of medical plans and services included in their policies, among others, will be discussed. Offered in 24 hours contact.
    • Medical Plan Billing – Electronic and Practical. In this course the participant will study and practice the fundamental concepts of electronic billing of health services using the program Secure Claim de Inmediata, among others. The participant will be provided with the practice site. Offered in 30 contact hours.
    • Yoga. Practice focused on teaching the basic postures of yoga and its benefits for physical, emotional and spiritual health. Offered in one hour contact.
  • All these courses are offered to the general public who individually decide to enroll in any of them. To do so, individuals must contact us by phone or email, register and reserve their space with a minimum of $25.00 and must have completed payment for the course before the course begins. Each group will start once it has a minimum of 5 people.
What workshops does AMSI, Inc. offer?

  • These workshops are offered weekly at each of our locations.
Business Incubator
  • This initiative offers the opportunity to set up your business in a location for a determined period of time, at a beneficial cost to start the business and for it to prosper according to the achievement of the projections established in the short and medium term.
  • By participating in this project, they will be able to obtain a private space with reception, data and telephone services at a convenient cost, in addition to professional assistance and support from AMSI, Inc. staff.
What are the requirements for the interested company?
  • Entrepreneurs interested in being part of this social and economic impact initiative of the AMSI Business Incubator should preferably be residents of the Municipality of Cayey and have completed an entrepreneurship workshop.
  • Applications will be considered from companies related to the industrial sector of administrative or office services (those where the activities do not generate strong odors or noise).
What is the process to participate in the Business Incubator?
  • To participate, the following steps are established:

What is a provider?
  • The Municipal Alliance of Integrated Services, Inc. provides training and employment services to youth, adults and dislocated workers as mandated by the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Various program activities are offered through the contracting of Service Providers.
  • AMSI, Inc. invites qualified and professional companies to submit proposals to offer these services.
How do you apply to offer services as a provider?
  • Each year a request for proposals notice is published in a newspaper of general circulation and on our website containing the process to be followed for the submission of proposals. To participate in the competitive award process, you must submit a proposal for evaluation, along with the required documents and forms. Click here for more information.
  • If you are an employer interested in submitting a Work Experience or On-the-Job Training proposal in the private sector, you should contact the One-Stop Management Center located in your municipality for submission of the proposal.
  • In addition, you must be registered in the AMSI Registry of Bidders; if you are not, you will follow the steps below:
    1. You must download form CI-064. Download it here.
    2. Fill out the form. If the service does not appear within those described; check next to others and describe it in the space provided.
    3. Include the completed and signed CI-064 form in your proposal and on the portal when registering.
