Descripción de la oferta: •Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), or an equivalent program recognized by appropriate authorities. •Certificate of specialty in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. •Active dental license. •Must be eligible to be licensed in Puerto Rico in a reasonable amount of time. •Eligibility to provide dental services in intramural and extramural clinics operated by the School of Dental Medicine. •Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical practice experience in specialty area. •Experience in clinical teaching, supervision, or academic dentistry, preferred. •Experience working in a structured clinical education environment is desirable. •Knowledge of clinical dentistry standards and evidence-based dental practice. •Knowledge of CODA accreditation standards related to clinical education and faculty responsibilities, preferred. •Knowledge of Puerto Rico dental practice laws and regulations, including supervision requirements. •Knowledge of infection control, risk management, and patient safety protocols. •Familiarity with electronic health record systems. •Familiarity with academic clinical documentation, preferred. •Ability to supervise multiple students and patients in a clinical teaching environment. •Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills. •Ability to provide effective instruction, feedback, and mentoring to students. •Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators. •Effective oral and written communication skills in Spanish and/or English, consistent with institutional needs.
Responsabilidades: •The Assistant/ Associate/ Professor in Clinical Service is a licensed dentist responsible for the clinical education and supervision of predoctoral and/or postgraduate dental students, the delivery and oversight of patient care, and the implementation of the clinical curriculum within the School of Dental Medicine. The position integrates teaching, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and academic service, ensuring that all clinical activities comply with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards and the laws and regulations governing the practice of dentistry in Puerto Rico. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. •Supervise, instruct, and evaluate dental students during direct patient care in school-operated clinics. •Provide chairside teaching, clinical demonstrations, and corrective feedback consistent with competency-based education. •Review, approve, and co-sign treatment plans, progress notes, prescriptions, referrals, and discharge documentation. •Assume professional responsibility for patient care rendered by students under supervision. •Ensure patient safety, ethical treatment, informed consent, and confidentiality. •Ensure compliance with CODA standards, institutional policies, and Puerto Rico dental laws and regulations. •Supervise allied dental personnel and verify services are rendered within legally authorized scopes of practice. •Enforce infection control, occupational safety, and emergency response protocols. •Participate in didactic, preclinical, and clinical instruction as assigned. •Evaluate student performance through formative and summative clinical assessments and competencies. •Participate in faculty meetings, calibration activities, committees, and accreditation processes. •Engage in continuing education, faculty development, and professional activities. •Participate in scholarly activity, research, and community or extramural service as applicable to appointment track.
