Astrid M. Ortiz Hernandez came to the CAREER DWG program after being laid off in 2021 as a result of the economic impact of COVID-19 on the company she worked for. Astrid began her studies in Medical Billing at the NUC-IBC in Caguas subsidized with Career DWG funds administered by AMSI through an Individual Training Account.

On July 8, 2023, he celebrated with his sister Lcda. Yadira Ortiz on the opening of her new establishment “100% Bienestar” in Caguas. Company dedicated to consulting services in nutrition, exercise and relaxation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Astrid and Yadira’s family members as well as people who supported them during their process, such as the Mayor of the Municipality of Caguas, Hon. William Miranda Torres and his AMSI Job Career Coach, Leilyana Rodríguez Ramírez.

It is worth noting that Astrid participated in the three main Career DWG offerings which are:

  • Subsidized studies through ITA Account
  • Entrepreneurship Training
  • English Language Learning (Basic and Intermediate Level).

Thank you Astrid for being a model and example that the Career DWG program administered by AMSI has been properly designed to serve our displaced population.

AMSI wishes Astrid and her sister Yadira every success in their new venture.
